If you have seen the “Chinese New Year” slated for release this January, you have a pretty good idea of how the “Alternate 90” looks like. Well, perhaps the Alternate 90 is a little more down-to-earth with colors that are more low profile.
Air Jordan 5 Low Alternate’90
Color:Black/Gym Red-Metallic Hematite
Release Date:January 30, 2016
Considering how they are using the Air Jordan 5 Low silhouette, Nike really can’t expect for Alternate ’90 not to make a big impression in the market. Couched in colors of black and red, the colorway is boldly reminiscent of Bred but with the unmistakable “dragon-like” streaks along the side.
The black covers most of the body with a little bit of red edging on the mouth of the shoes. The tongue is pure white in color with the Jumpman logo at the center, this time done in bright red – definitely a good choice. Other signs of red can be found on the translucent outsole and the dragon-like’ streaks connected to the soles.
Transparent mesh paneling can be found on the side with distinctive black eyelets matched with black laces. Now, you might think that mostly black ensemble is boring, but the silhouette allows for layers and depths to the overall design. Hence, despite the lack of excessive colors, the Alternate ’90 manages to pull it off.
The back portion is pretty straightforward: a red Jumpman logo with the black leather as its background. On the front, there is a transparent lace lock to keep the overall black-red colorway seamless. Flipping the shoes over, you can see another Jumpman icon embedded inside the translucent red and the JORDAN name in large letters.
With the main colors largely like the “Bred” colorway, it is easy to know why a lot of people are already looking forward for their release. Bound to be a classic and a favorite in many Jordan Brand stores, these kicks are even more desirable, thanks to their reasonable price. At just $175, it is definitely cheaper than the other Jordan Brand models out in the market today.
Sneaker News has obliged us by offering pictures of the Air Jordan 5 Low “Alternate ’90” at different angles. This way, you should have a pretty good idea whether or not you are buying these kicks before their announced Jordan release date of January 30, 2016.
If you are not into the Alternate ’90, rest assured that there are more in line for 2016. Just a reminder: the Alternate series is essentially a second version of Player Exclusive shoes worn by player greats such as Michael Jordan back in the day.
