Since January, Jordan Brand has continued to surprise, especially with their long line of Jordan releases for 2016. This April though, JB is reviving yet another series to mark this eventful year – the Air Jordan 10 City Series.
Air Jordan 10 NYC
Color:Black/Black-Dark Grey-Metallic Gold Coin
Release Date:April 23, 2016
It was in August last year when Sneaker News revealed that Jordan Brand is going big on their releases with regionally-inspired sneakers showcasing different colorways. The said series will devote exclusive shoes for the cities of Charlotte, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.
But of course, given that the City Series will be making a comeback after its original release in 1995, a few minor changes are expected to be seen with the new pack. That is, instead of the apparent colorways signifying the city they represent, each city’s name will now be stitched on the upper ankle just like with Jordan PEs using the famous 90s font.
Nevertheless, the biggest change among the series would perhaps be found on the pair of the Air Jordan 10 NYC. Lifestyle fans will surely love the new face of the AJ 10 NYC, thanks to the referencing that JB made with the Gotham colorway. Admittedly, the NYC pair is made to look its best with premium aesthetic design. The original silhouette will be used for this pair but it will be ditching out any affiliation it once had with Knicks to replace it with a colorway of Black, Dark Grey, and Metallic Gold. As the first installment in the Air Jordan City Pack, the NYC is rumored to have its Jordan release date on April 23, Saturday.
Compared to the original Air Jordan 10 NYC, this revamped NYC Jordan looks nothing like its predecessor sporting a white base and accents of royal blue and black. Instead, the Big Apple installment went all out for a full black leather upper accented only with the Metallic Gold “NYC” emblem stitched on the ankles and the Jumpman logo on the outsole dressed in the same colorway. Fans might also find it interesting to see some cool writings on the outsole like “’94 Beyond” and “’93 MVP Championship” which seems to pertain to some of the most memorable event that MJ participated in before the shoes’ release in 1995.
There are also hints of the gold alternating with black on the heel tab. On closer inspection, the midsole is embellished with gold speckles running the length of the outsoles as well and instead of the Jumpman, the words “Air Jordan” take the place of the iconic logo on the tongue. Nevertheless, the inside of the tongue sports the black Jumpman with the same words underneath the logo and the inside tongue tab.
Stay tuned for more updates as the rest of the City series arrives.
