Another colorway to add to Air Jordan’s “City Pack”, the Air Jordan 10 “Shanghai” is scheduled for release on the 18th of June which isn’t that far from today. As a result, Sneaker News has gamely released images of these brand new kicks, giving all Air Jordan fans out there the chance to assess whether this colorway would be the one for them.
Air Jordan 10 Shanghai
Color:Black/Fierce Purple-Gamma Blue
Release Date:June 18, 2016
The word “Shanghai” connotes an Asian concept which probably makes you think of white and red color combinations – not so. Instead, Nike decided to go with a combination of black, gamma blue and fierce purple. The black leather upper covers most of the kicks while gamma blue and fierce purple take over the detailing portion of the shoes. It’s actually a little tough to see the discrepancy between the blue and purple since the two colors manage to seamlessly move into each other. Of course, the fact that the shoes are mostly black tends to pull the attention from the shoe detailing.
Like most City Pack releases, these shoes come with side stitching the connotes the city it represents. With Shanghai, you get the HAI stitching on the side, carrying the same purple-blue color combination. The tongue and laces are both done in black and from the pictures, it’s hard to judge whether there’s a Jumpman icon on the center of the tongue. If there is, it’s probably done in a dark shade which makes it hard to see.
The ankle portion design, however, is unmistakable, but not exactly outstanding with the blue coloring. Unfortunately, it looks like Air Jordan spent more color on the bottom of the shoes, sporting a blue and purple shading with the Jumpman silhouette beautifully traced on the surface. It’s not that we’re complaining about the lack of color – there’s no question that an all over black allows for a classier look. However, the design doesn’t really follow a catch your eye’ pattern which has been the hallmark of many Air Jordan releases.
Still, it’s a pretty piece and with the all-black upper, easy enough to match and wear for practically all occasions. No price tag for it though and because of the “Shanghai” name, there are questions as to whether it would be an Asia-only release. We hope not.
